Upon graduation from law school, Harold accepted a position with a law firm in Los Angeles practicing primarily in the area of Health Care litigation and transactions. In 1982 he returned to Dallas and accepted a position with a law firm practicing in the area of real estate transactions and complex business litigation.
During the course of his practice Harold has gained valuable experience in a broad spectrum of matters involving business and consumer disputes. Harold has tried cases before judges and juries in a variety of courts across the country. Typical types of cases have concerned disputes over trade secrets, covenants not to compete, allegations of job discrimination, contracts, leases, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and disputes over financial documents and securities. Harold has experience in class action litigation including such matters as genetically altered corn being illegally introduced into the food chain, improper part replacement in computer printers, illegal sale of insurance by a global package delivery firm, and the wrongful acquisition of personal data by the portable cellular telephone industry. Other cases have involved wrongful changes to airline miles reward programs, defective videotape, as well as the Microsoft antitrust litigation. Harold takes a common sense approach to addressing client problems and has the technological expertise to extract all material facts and present them to the decision maker in a clear and concise fashion.
With this broad base of experience, in 1989 he was chosen by the Dallas Bar Association for the initial class of trainees to become mediators. Since that time, he has mediated cases of all types. Harold is one of the charter members of the Association of Attorney Mediators and has continued his training through the Harvard Negotiation Project. With this background, he assists businesses in planning an approach to avoiding litigation, or minimizing its cost.
In recent years Harold has developed a practice representing parents and their children in disputes with schools concerning Special Education Law. His experience in litigation, mediation and collaborative law gives him a unique set of tools for addressing these problems.
